Yamishibai Season 3 Gets January 2016 Premiere

Earlier today, the official Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories anime website announced that a third season is in the works. The page boasts that “more than 100 weird characters” will be featured in the season, which focuses on urban legends.

Takashi Taniguchi and Tomohisa Ishikawa will helm the season at studio ILCA, while studio Anima provides CG animation. Hiromu Kumamoto, who provided scripts for the previous two seasons, will return to reprise his role with series newcomer Satoko Kishi. The remaining confirmed staff includes:

  • Planning: Norio Yamakawa (TV Tokyo), Takuya Iwasaki (ILCA)
  • Producers: Nobuyuki Hosoya (TV Tokyo), Kenji Sakurai (ILCA), Motoki Hirose (ILCA)

Actors Ryota Murai and Risa Aizawa, who were regulars in the previous seasons, are also slated to return to the project.

Crunchyroll is streaming the first two seasons in their entirety in North America.
