Retailer: NIS America’s Wagnaria!! Season 1 License Lapses

Wagnaria Visual 001 - 20151213Well, this was unexpected.

Earlier this month, retailer Robert’s Anime Corner Store reported that NIS America’s license for Wagnaria!! season 1 expired. NIS America reportedly saw its license expire at the end of November, and has no plans to renew. The company will discontinue the season’s DVD release.

The full comment is as follows:

NISA let us know last week that their license for the first season of Wagnaria expired at the end of November and they have no plans to renew. That means the current Wagnaria!! (Working!!) Season 1 Complete Collection DVD Set (Standard Edition) is now officially discontinued and out of print, so whatever we have left in the warehouse will be it. Get em while they last!

NIS America released Wagnaria!! in a Premium Edition DVD on March 29, 2011. This was followed by a Standard Edition on July 5,2011.

Aniplex of America announced that they acquired the third season of Wagnaria!! in June. The company currently streams the season on several platforms, including Crunchyroll.

Aniplex describes Wagnaria!! as follows:

The story takes place in a certain family restaurant located in Hokkaido prefecture of Japan called WAGNARIA. Sota Takanashi is a high school student who ended up working part-time at this restaurant through strange circumstances along with his co-workers who are all more than a little eccentric.
