When trouble’s brewing in the neighborhood, who are you gonna call?
Earlier today, Fuji TV announced the first cast and crew members for the upcoming KochiKame anime project. Akira Shigeno (Crayon Shin-chan) is helming the project at Studio Gallop, with Tomoko Takahashi (Futari wa Pretty Cure, Sgt. Frog) listed as a producer. Takashi Yamada is writing the title’s scenario, while Makoto Seino takes charge of planning.
The confirmed voice cast includes:
- Kankichi Ryotsu: Lazar Ishii
- Reiko Katherine Akimoto: Yumi Morio
- Keiichi Nakagawa: Mitsuru Miyamoto
- Daijiro Ohara: Haruki Sayama
Fuji TV also released the key visual for the project, which you can check out below. As of press time, Fuji still hasn’t clarified whether this will be a special or a full TV series.
KochiKame is an ongoing series by Osamu Akimoto. The series has been in publication since 1976’s 42nd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which hit newsstands on September 21, 1976. The title is Weekly Shonen Jump‘s longest-running manga series, spanning 199 compiled books.
Through its publication, KochiKame has seen an anime TV special, an anime TV series, two animated films, and a live-action TV drama. A stage play is also in the works, which will star Lazar Ishii. The play will run from September 9 – 19 at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo. The show will then run at Osaka’s Sankei Hall Breeze from September 23 – 25.
