It looks like the BanG Dream! crew are hoping to have a real poppin’ party ready for 2017!

Earlier today, the official BanG Dream! YouTube channel updated with a new promotional video. The teaser opens by introducing the actresses behind in-series rock group Poppin’ Party. The video them cuts to a short music video for upcoming single STAR BEAT! -Hoshi no Kodou-, which hits Japanese retailers on August 3.

For fans who just want to catch the new tunes, the channel also updated with a video without the character introductions.

In addition, the official BanG Dream! Twitter account updated with a photo of the Poppin’ Party crew in full stage costume, as well as a character visual for fictional frontman Kasumi Toyama:

Bang Dream Visual 001 - 20160706BanG Dream! first entered the world as a manga series in the pages of Monthly Bushiroad magazine. The ongoing series, which is being handled by Kou Nakamura, kicked off in the January 8, 2015 issue.

Poppin’ Party made its début as a band on Apri l8, 2015 in a one-song performance. The group’s first formal single, Yes! BanG_Dream! hit Japanese retailers on February 24.

The cast members for franchise group Poppin’ Party include:

  • Kasumi Toyama (Vocals, Guitar): Aimi
  • Tae Hanazono (Lead Guitar): Sae Ootsuka
  • Rimi Ushigome (Bass): Rimi Nishimoto
  • Sāya Yamabuki (Drums): Ayaka Oohashi
  • Arisa Ichigaya (Keyboard): Ayasa Itou

So, in some ways, it’s like the Monkees, but the cast members will actually play their own instruments.

Bang Dream Visual 002 - 20160708BanG Dream‘s anime adaptation is currently slated for a 2017 release. Atsushi Ootsuki (To Love Ru: Darkness, Wagnaria!!2) will helm the series at studio Issen and Xebec, with Matsuko Nita providing character designs. Yuniko Ayana (Hello!! KINMOZA, Girls Beyond the Wasteland) is in charge of series composition.

Other confirmed crew members include:
