The world’s greatest thief is back for two more adventures!
Earlier today, Discotek announced that they acquired two new Lupin III anime specials. Both Lupin III: Island of Assassins and Lupin III: Operation Return the Treasure will join the company’s lineup. Island of Assassins will hit store in a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, while Operation Return the Treasure will be released on DVD.
In addition, Discotek revealed that they will release both 5 Centimeters Per Second and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture on Blu-Ray. The company previously released both on DVD.
Lupin III: Island of Assassins originally aired in 1997. The special was originally released in North America by Funimation in 2005. Hiroyuki Yano (Daigunder, Soreike! Anpanman films) directed the project at Tokyo Movie, while Fuminori Kizaki (Blue Gender, Shadow Skill) provided character designs. Shinzo Fujita (Ex-Driver, Pokémon) wrote the show’s script.
Lupin III: Operation Return the Treasure hit Japanese TV in 2003. Jun Kawagoe (Cyborg 009 Vs. Devilman, Ex-Driver) directed the feature at Tokyo Movie, with the team of Satoshi Hirayama (Cat’s Eye, Lupin III vs. Detective Conan) and Toshimitsu Kobayashi (Cinderella Boy, Spice and Wolf II) providing character designs. Hiroshi Kashiwabara (Case Closed, Lupin III: Dead or Alive) wrote the special’s script.
