New Wake Up, Girls! Anime With New Staff & Characters In The Works For 2017


You read that right: Yamakan’s out on this one.

Earlier today, a Wake Up, Girls! fan event, called the “Wake Up, Girls! Festa 2016 Super Live” was held in Japan. At the event, news broke that a new Wake Up, Girls! anime TV series is in the works. Specific broadcast details are unknown, though the show is planned for 2017.

A teaser for the new project, titled Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shō (Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter), was shown off along with a two new visuals. You can check these out below:

The first visual features new designs for Mayu Shimada, along with the other six main characters from the original series.

The second visual is a character design sheet, which features the major cast members.

There will be several staffing changes for Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shō. Shin Itagaki will replace Yutaka “Yamakan” Yamamoto as director at Millepensee. Miyuki Sugawara will replace Sunao Chikaoka, who is now credited with “Original Character Design.” The scripts and original story are credited to Green Leaves.

The team of Satoru Kousaki and monaca will return to compose the soundtrack at Dive II animation.

In addition to the original seven cast members, Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shō will add several new characters. The project will host a “Wake Up, Girls! Audition” event to find new talent for the show.

The audition announcements were accompanied by a visual that features silhouettes of the three new players, which you can check out below:
