Official Trailer For Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You! Drops, Warm Nostalgia Fuzzies Ensue

Twenty years and twenty movies later, Ash still wanders the world on his quest to become a Pokémon master. Well, kind of. Now he’s going to school in Alola and things are getting pretty weird, what with the death and the losing to Team Rocket.

But, that said, it’s been a heck of a time. It’s almost hard to believe that, when Ash began his journey, we were still probing the mysteries of Kanto and only 150 Pokémon were known to the world. Well, 150 plus that mystery bird seen in the first episode (cough Ho-Oh cough!).

Man, how time flies.

That said, the official trailer for Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You! hit the web yesterday. The 90-second teaser takes a look at Ash’s humble beginnings in Pallet Town.

Anyone who’s seen the show’s first episode is sure to get those warm fuzzies.

Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You! will hit Japanese theaters on January 15. Kunihiko Yuyama will direct the film at OLM. Both Rica Matsumoto and Ikue Ōtani will reprise their roles as Ash/Satoshi and Pikachu, respectively.

As of press time, it’s unknown as to whether Best Girl Misty will make an appearance.

The film will retell the story of the first Pokémon anime episode, ultimately branching out to an original tale which sees Ash and Pikachu going on a quest to meet legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. Through the journey, the two will ultimatley grow closer, becoming the inseparable duo we know and love today.

A visual for the film was previously released, which shows Ash and Pikachu gazing up at Ho-Oh from a sunlit plain. you can check it out below:
