Sadly, not even Dokuro and the mighty Excaliborg can help, here.

Yesterday, the “Keno Kosoku Kotsu” literary group revealed that illustrator Torishimo passed away on February 20. Yuki Kitagawa, who works at visual novel studio August Soft, confirmed the news on Twitter, adding that the funeral services were held on February 24.

Torishimo is best known for their work on the Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan) light novels, in which the artist served as illustrator. The series ran from June 2003 through October 2007, spanning eleven volumes.

Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan inspired a manga series by Mitsuna Sakuse and illustrator Mitsuna Ouse in August 2004. The series ran in the pages of Dengeki Comic Gao! magazine through June 2006, and spanned three collected books.

Two Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan anime titles were produced, with the first airing in Spring 2005 and the second in Fall 2007. Media Blasters released both titles in North America under their AnimeWorks label.

We’d like to extend our deepest condolences to Torishimo’s family and friends.
