The Fairy Tail Guild is making a truly grand entrance in Illinois.

Earlier today, Funimation revealed that they will host the North American première for Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry at Anime Central 2017. The film will be screened in subtitled format on May 20. All attendees will receive a promotional poster.

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry will hit other theaters across North America after Anime Central, though specific dates or locations have yet to be announced. The film opened in Japan on May 6.

Tatsuma Minamikawa directed the movie at A-1 Pictures, with Yuuko Yamada filling the dual role of character designer and chief animation director. Shoji Yonemura (Smile Precure!) wrote the film’s script. Music was handled by series composer Yasuharu Takanashi. Hiro Mashima storyboarded the film and served as Executive Producer.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Lucy Heartfilia: Aya Hirano
  • Happy: Rie Kugimiya
  • Gray Fullbuster: Yuichi Nakamura
  • Erza Scarlet: Sayaka Ohara

The Fairy Tail anime is based on Hiro Mashima’s manga of the same name. Shinji Ishihira (Log Horizon, Super Lovers) directed the series at A-1 Pictures and Satelight, with Aoi Yamamoto (Re-Kan!, On the Way to a Smile – Episode Denzel: Final Fantasy VII) providing character designs. Masashi Sogo (Bleach, The Prince of Tennis) was in charge of series composition.
