Udon to Release “Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers!” Manga in English

You know, I’m a simple person. I see an opportunity to post EVO hype, and I take it.

Yesterday, Udon Entertainment announced that they will publish Itaru Orikasa, Maki Tomoi, and Kengoro Nishide’s Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers! (Umehara Fighting Gamers!) manga in English. The first volume will hit stores in December, though Udon will offer copies at this year’s EVO fighting game tournament.

Daigo The Beast: Umehara Fighting Gamers! follows the life of famed Japanese fighting game player Daigo Umehara. The series launched in the apges of Kadokawa’s Weekly Georgia magazine in 2014, and spans six compiled volumes. The most recent volume hit retailers on January 25.

Udon describes the title as:

The DAIGO THE BEAST manga explores the real-life events that built the fighting game community, and the strategies and play styles developed by Daigo and his fellow gamers. In Volume 1, Shinya Ohnuki, a gamer with prodigious talent, is drawn into the wild and wonderful world of fighting games after a chance meeting with Daigo. As they face off in iconic games like Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, and Darkstalkers, an enduring rivalry between Daigo and “Nuki” is born!
