Puzzle & Dragons Gets New “PazuDora” Anime Series in April 2018


Don’t worry – this one isn’t gonna cost you Coins to enjoy.

Earlier today, GungHo Entertainment hosted the “Pazudora Project 2018” media event. At the show, the publisher announced that hit smartphone game Puzzle & Dragons will receive a new TV series. The show, titled Pazudora, will hit Japanese TV in April.

The first staff and cast, as well as a key visual and trailer were unveiled at the show. We break the details down below:

Trailer

The minute-long teaser introduces the show’s concept, in which young gamer Taiga Akaishi aims to become the greatest professional gamer in the world. It’s set in an alternate version of our world, where cartoon mascots roam, and a free-to-play smartphone puzzle game can pack stadiums with fans.

Staff

Hajime Kamegaki (Puzzle & Dragons X, Fushigi Yugi) was tapped to direct the project at Studio Pierrot, with Shinzo Fujita (The World Is Still Beautiful, Duel Masters Cross) taking charge of series composition.

Cast

The series will star the following:

  • Taiga: Asuna Tomari
  • Dragon: Tetsuya Kakihara

A PazuDora manga is also in the works, which will appear in Coro Coro Comic magazine’s March 2018 issue. The book will hit newsstands on February 15. A short preview of the title will appear in the February issue of Coro Coro Comic, which ships on January 15.

The Puzzle & Dragons smartphone game is a free-to-play puzzle title from GungHo Online Entertainment. The title launched in Japan on January 12, 2012, and hit North America in November of the same year. It was the first mobile game in history to reach $1 billion in revenue.
