Overlord Anime Gets Third Season; New Trailer & Cast Revealed


The path to Yggdrasil beckons once again…

Earlier today, the official Overlord anime website announced that the show will receive a third season, titled Overlord III. Two new cast members, a trailer, a visual, and a premiere window were unveiled for the project.

We break the details down below.

Trailer

The promo features Ainz Ooal Gown, stepping out from the darkness before cutting to the show’s logo and premiere date.

Key Visual

Cast

The series will add the following:

  • Fulder: Takaya Hashi
  • Gilkunif: Takahiro Sakurai

Premiere

Overlord III will hit Japanese TV this July. The previous show, Overlord II, ended today.

Naoyuki Itou returned to direct Overlord‘s second season at Madhouse, with Yukie Sugawara back in charge of series composition. Character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Desert PunkTrigun) was joined by Satoshi Tasaki (No Game, No Life Zero, Rideback) this time around.

Crunchyroll streamed Overlord II as a simulcast, while Funimation is producing a simuldub. Crunchyroll describes the show as:

When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.
