Gintama Series 6 Cour 2 Gets Opening & Closing Theme Song Artists

Gintama Season 6 Key VisualIt looks like epic tale is getting a strong soundtrack to accompany its final arc.

Earlier today, Sony Music announced the theme song artists for the upcoming second cour for Gintama‘s sixth series. The opening theme song will be performed by SpyAir, while CHiCO with Honeyworks will handle the show’s closing.

The Gintama anime adapts Sorachi’s manga of the same name.

The first Gintama anime began airing in April 2006, and ran through March 2010. The most recent Gintama anime series launched in January, though it  went on a brief pause in March, after episode 353 hit the airwaves.

The series will resume in July. The new episodes will continue to adapt the Silver Soul arc, which is the final arc of the manga.

Chizuru Miyawaki directed the newest series at Bandai Namco Pictures, with Shinji Takeuchi (Fairy Tail, Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!) providing character designs. Crunchyroll streamed the show as it aired in Japan. They describe Gintama as:

In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
