HIDIVE to Stream “The Life of Budori Gusuko” on 7/21/2018

On July 16, HIDIVE announced that they acquired the streaming rights to The Life of Budori Gusuko. The publisher will launch the film on July 21, 2018 at 17:00 UTC (1:00PM Eastern, 10:00AM Pacific) for subscribers in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and other select regions.

The Life of Budori Gusuko is a 2012 film from Tezuka Productions, which is based on Kenji Miyazawa’s novel of the same name. Gisaburō Sugii (Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, Lupin III: Secret FilesLupin III: Secret Files ) directed the film and wrote the screenplay, while Marisuke Eguchi (Nozomi Witches, Lupin III: Dead or Alive) provided character designs.

Sentai Filmworks currently holds the rights to the title, and released the title on home video.

Based on a beloved novel, Night on the Galactic Railroad by Kenji Miyazawa, The Life of Budori Gusuko explores the story of Gusuko as he tries to find his place in the world after suffering the loss of his home to a natural disaster. As he wanders the countryside, contemplating what his future holds, the beauty of the landscape reflects Gusuko’s thoughts and feelings, creating a dynamic setting which mesmerizes and enthralls. Mixing otherworldly elements with a melancholic story, The Life of Budori Gusuko touches the philosophical topics of destiny, free will and the true meaning of life.
