Kakegurui Season 2 Airs in January 2019

Kakegurui Season 2 VisualIt looks like the greatest gambler of all will return in just a few months.

The latest issue of Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine contains an article for the Kakegurui anime TV series. According to the publication, show’s second season will begin airing on Japanese TV in January 2019.

As of press time, no further details have been announced.

Kakegurui‘s first season debuted on Japanese TV on July 1, 2017. The show’s second season was first announced in January.

The series is based on Homura Kawamoto and illustrator Tōru Naomura’s manga of the same name. Yuichiro Hayashi (Garo the Animation, PES: Peace Eco Smile) directed the project at Mappa, with Manabu Akita providing character designs. Yasuko Kobayashi (Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) was in charge of series composition for the show.

Kakegurui Season 1 VisualNetflix streamed Kakegurui outside of Japan. They describe the show as:

There is one absolute rule in gambling — at the end of the day, there is a winner and a loser. The winner gains riches and prestige, while the loser is branded a failure and left with nothing. In the silence leading up to the moment that separates winners and losers, instincts are sharpened and desires reach the point of ecstasy. This is a harsh microcosm of life in a capitalist society. Why are people captivated by a world filled with risk? What lies beyond the madness? As the class system of modern society crumbles, an unprecedented adrenaline-pumping anime sweeps the world.
