In This Corner of the World Staff Reunites For “Otafuku” Anime Promo Short


So, ah… I don’t know if this is charming or gauche. Help me out, here.

Earlier today, the Otafuku Sauce Company opened a special site to announce the launch of a new series of web shorts based on their products. The first short, titled Watashi no na wa Otafukuko ~ Chīsana Shiawase o, Chikyū no Shiawase ni.~ (My Name is Otafukuko ~Small Happiness, to the Happiness of Earth~) launched today, along with details on the cast and crew attached to the project.

We break the details down below.

Episode

The episode follows Otafuku through history, from Edo to the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing, where she spreads a small comfort to three hungry people by preparing okonomiyaki.

Staff

Sunao Katabuchi (In This Corner of the World, Princess Arete) directed the short at MAPPA, and wrote the screenplay. Fumiyo Kouno (In This Corner of the World, Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms) provided the original character designs, while kotringo scored the soundtrack.

Minori Omi plays the titular Otafukuko.

Two other parts are planned, which will hit the Otafuku YouTube channel in November and December, respectively.
