Free! ~Road to the World~ Yume Movie In The Works; First Trailer, Visual, Cast Revealed


Earlier today, an official website for a new Free! compilation film, titled Free! ~Road to the World~ Yume opened its doors. The site includes a key visual and trailer, as well as details on the main cast and crew members attached to the project.

We break the details down below.

Trailer

The 30-second teaser cuts through scenes from Free! -Dive to the Future-, as a high-paced musical theme plays in the background.

Key Visual

Staff

The core staff from Free! -Dive to the Future will return to work on the film. Eisaku Kawanami (Free! -Take Your Marks-, Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley-) will return to direct the project at Kyoto ANimation and Animation DO, with Futoshi Nishiya (Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, A Silent Voice) providing character designs. Masahiro Yokotani (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, All Out!!) is penning the script.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

The film will retell the events of Free! -Dive to the Future, while adding in “new episode.” The film is intended to be a bridge for an upcoming Free! film that will hit theaters in 2020.

Free! -Dive to the Future aired in the Summer 2019 broadcast season.

Crunchyroll streamed Free! -Dive to the Future- on their digital platform, while Funimation produced a SimulDub. Funimation describes the show as:

Your favorite swimming boys are back and ready to race towards their dreams! But what will happen when the boys face unexpected reunions?
