“Magia Record” Anime Gets New Visual, Trailer, & Cast Member


Earlier today, fans flocked to the second anniversary event for the Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story smartphone game. During the show, a new trailer and visual were revealed for the upcoming Magia Record anime series, as well as a new cast member and details on the show’s theme songs.

We break the details down below.

Trailer

The two-minute trailer introduces the show’s main concept, with a conversation between the main voice cast serving as narration. Theme song Gomakashi by Trysail kicks in as a background track at the 1:15 mark.

Cast

The series will add the following:

  • Kuroe: Kana Hanazawa

Theme Songs

Trysail will perform opening theme song Gomakashi (Deception), while Claris performs the title’s closing theme.

Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story will air in January 2020 on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, MBS, Tochigi TV, and BS11, among other channels.

Gekidan Inu Curry will serve as Chief Director at Shaft, while handling series composition duties. Junichirō Taniguchi (Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, Puella Magi Madoka Magica) is providing character designs.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Felicia Mitsuki: Ayane Sakura
  • Iroha Tamaki: Momo Asakura
  • Tsuruno Yui: Shiina Natsukawa
  • Yachiyo Nanami: Sora Amamiya
  • Kaede Akino: Ayaka Ohashi
  • Rena Minami: Kaori Ishihara
  • Momoko Togame: Mikako Komatsu
  • Sana Futaba: Yui Ogura

Aniplex currently releases the Magia Record smartphone game in North America. They describe the game as:

The stage is set in a burgeoning city called Kamihama.
Magical Girls are drawn there as if by some mysterious force.
Iroha Tamaki is one of them.
“Hey, Ui…. Why did you disappear?”
A new story about Magical Girls and the wishes that drive them unfolds…

Aniplex of America president Shu Nishimoto commented on the news, stating:

We are thrilled to be working with f4samurai to bring Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story to the U.S. and Canada […] As a tent pole within the magical girl genre, Madoka has had an impact on many anime fans throughout the years and we hope fans enjoy meeting Iroha and the other Magical Girls of Kamihama City through this mobile game.
