New “Under the Dog” Project to Get Kickstarter Campaign


It looks like Anthea’s story has a chance to continue on.

Earlier today, the Under the Dog Kickstarter page updated with an announcement that the project will undergo a second round of Kickstarter funding. The campaign hopes to fund the following:

Live-Action “Episode 0” Short

The “Episode 0” short will feature a monologue by Asami Seto, who played Anthea in the original OVA.

Theme Song & Music Video Production

The theme song will be produced by Atsushi Isoyama and Shoko Omori. Omori will write the lyrics, while Isoyama composes the score and handled production aspects.

A music video is also planned for the song, though specifics have yet to be revealed as of press time.

Theatrical Release

The theatrical release will feature a “Special Edition” version of Under the Dog, though specifics have yet ot be named.

As of press time, no details have been announced regarding a launch date or goal for the new campaign.

Under the Dog was officially released on August 1, 2016. The title is an original anime feature, which first entered the anime world as a Kickstarter project. Backers raised a total of $878,028 to ensure that the feature would be produced. Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger, Blast of Tempest) directed the feature at Kinema Citrus. Character designs were provided by Yuusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem: Awakening), while Orange Co. (Ghost in the Shell: Arise) provided 3D CG animation.

The major voice cast includes:

  • Hana Togetsu: Rumi Ookubo
  • Shunichi Nanase: Kouki Uchiyama
  • Sayuri: Haruka Takahashi
  • Estella: Naomi Ōzora
