AniWeekly 11/9/2014: Believe It!

It’s over, believe it! After a 15 year run, Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga finally reached its finale. The finale, which ran in Shonen Jump, was treated with a great deal of class and respect. The issue contained a heart-felt send-off from One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, as well as a number of comments from the magazine’s many creators.

It’s a touching way to send off a series that many have enshrined as a staple for fans new and old alike.

Attack on Tourism! Attack on Titan creator Hajime Iseyama was named the Tourism Ambassador for his hometown. Oita’s Hita City gave Iseyama the official title of “Tourism Friendship Ambassador to the ‘Beautiful Riverside Location of Hita'” at the “Attack on Returning Home” cultural event, which was held on November 1, 2014.

The event drew about 2,500 people, and was followed by a presentation at the Patria Hita cultural hall on November 2. It was here that Iseyama gave a speech, before being presented the official letter of appointment.

Get your Game Boy Horrors ready, everyone! Capcom and Nintendo are location-testing an arcade version of Luigi’s Mansion. At this point, details are scarce, though fans can rest assured that ghosts will be sucked up with household appliances.

Let the rhythm move you. Ogiue Maniax offers a a compelling argument as to why fans should check out dancing anime Cool Tribe Crew.

That old convention feeling. Who doesn’t like a good convention announcement? At NekoCon, FUNimation announced that they added the video rights to three titles: Tokyo Ravens, PUCHIM@S, and Ping Pong the Animation.

Hey Digimon, hey Digimon! Remember that announcement for a 15th anniversary Digimon anime? Well, it’s time to get hyped! The official Twitter account for the series tweeted out a piece of key art showing off silhouettes for the main characters. It’s a tease, but it’s something to geek out over until more real details begin to hit.

File this one under “World’s Worst Awesome Careers”! The Japanese Animator Expo began streaming Ōtarō Maijō’s Dragon Dentist, a charming series about a girl who wishes to become, well, a dentist for dragons. The short features animation direction by Rebuild of Evangelion director Kazuya Tsurumaki, and is available for viewing with English subtitles.

Did someone say “game time”? The internet archive, best known for their Wayback Machine and countless concert recordings, just became the destroyer of weekends everywhere. The service added over 900 video games from 1970 to the 1990s for free playing. Fans looking to kick it with Burgertime or scratch that Millipede itch can now do so with ease!

ABL. Always Be Laughing. We’re going to end things this week with Sakura-Con 2011 winner for Best Comedy, “AMV Potpourri.” It’s silly, it’s over-the-top, and it’s just fun.
