Crunchyroll Adds Double Decker, Radiant, 4 More to Digital Lineups


It looks like Doug and Kirill are hunting for a few hits today!

Earlier today, Crunchyroll hosted their industry panel at Anime Expo. During the presentation, the publisher announced that they will add six titles to their digital lineup.

  • Music Girls (Ongaku Shojo, Summer 2018)
  • Double Decker (Fall 2018)
  • RErideD – Derrida, who leaps through time (Fall 2018)
  • Radiant (Fall 2018, October)
  • That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Fall 2018)
  • The Rising of the Shield Hero (Winter 2019)

RErideD – Derrida, who leaps through time is a Crunchyroll co-production.

Crunchyroll originally announced that they would add The Rising of the Shield Hero in July 2017. The first episode will be shown as a world premiere at this year’s Crunchyroll Expo. The premiere will see several guests attending, who will be announced at a later date.

Music Girls

Ongaku Shojo Key Visual

Yukio Nishimoto (The Galaxy Railways, Najica Blitz Tactics) was tapped to direct Music Girls at Studio DEEN, with Momoka Komatsu providing character designs. Deko Akao (Flying Witch, Noragami) is in charge of series composition for the title.

Double Decker

Joji Furuta (The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments, ēlDLIVE) was tapped to direct Double Decker at Sunrise, with Norihiro Itagaki providing character designs. Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., One-Punch Man) is in charge of series composition.

Double Decker is a new entry into the Tiger & Bunny universe. The title is a buddy cop show, which focuses on Doug and Kirill.

Radiant

Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Assassination Classroom) is directing Radiant at Lerche, with Makoto Uezu (Assassination Classroom Season 2, KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!) taking charge of series composition. Daiki Fukuoka (Yuki Yuna is A Hero Season 2, Danganronpa 3) is credited as Series Director.

The series is based on Tony Valente’s comics of the same name. The Annecy International Animated Film Festival screened the title as a work in progress. They describe Radiant as:

An apprentice sorcerer Seth embarks on a magical mission in search of the “Radiant” where the feared Nemesis are said to arise. Seth believes he can become the great sorcerer who exterminates the Nemesis. With his new friends, he battles powerful enemies and overcomes hardships – all the while under pursuit from the mysterious Inquisition.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Yasuhito Kikuchi (Infinite Stratos, Macross Frontier) was tapped to direct That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime at studio 8-Bit, with Atsushi Nakayama (Absolute Duo, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st) serving as Series Director. Ryouma Ebata (Busou Shinki, Magical Warfare) is providing character designs for the title, while Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Black Clover, Girls’ Last Tour) takes charge of series composition.

Yen Press currently holds the rights to the That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime light novels. They describe the series as:

Lonely thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is stuck in a dead-end job, unhappy with his mundane life, but after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a fantasy realm…as a slime monster! As he acclimates to his goopy new existence, his exploits with the other monsters set off a chain of events that will change his new world forever!

The Rising of the Shield Hero

The Rising of the Shield Hero adapts Aneko Yusagi and illustrator Minami Seira’s novel series of the same name. Takao Abo (Norn9) will direct the project at Kinema Citrus, with Masahiro Suwa providing character designs. Keigo Koyanagi is in charge of story editing.

Kadokawa describes the title as:

Naofumi, an ordinary student, is summoned into another world as a ‘Shield Hero‘. What is waiting for him in this world? The popular novel series is being adapted into an anime!
